Who are we?
RiverRun is a true independent bookstore. We occupy a real space in the real world and cram it completely full of books. There’s not much room to move, to be frank. Yes, the World Wide Web is infinite, and we could be spending a lot of time creating whiz bang websites and trying to compete with Amazon to sell things to you in cyberspace, but we don’t really want to do that.
We want you to come in to the store, talk to us in person, and browse. Hold a book in your hand, feel its weight, and thumb through its pages. You’re welcome to bring a cup of coffee in with you while you browse, you’re welcome to bring your kids or your dog. You can hit me up for a donation to your non-profit group or discuss local politics. You can bake us cookies and bring them in; we really like that.
Point is, everyone is talking about building communities online: chat groups, yahoo groups, blogs and the like. While that’s all well and good, we prefer our real community here, in Portsmouth, where we can get together and talk about books, poetry, music, art, and anything on our minds. If you can’t get here, feel free to email me (We’re not Luddites! We do have email!) with any questions or comments.
