Why have we become a publisher?

Every day, hundreds of books are being self-published in the United States. Many authors are frustrated with the traditional publishing opportunities, or have come to realize how difficult it is to work with a major publisher. Often these authors simply pick a company at random from among the thousands of companies online offering to print their books.

The Seacoast is home to hundreds of poets, novelists, and nonfiction authors.  We want to offer these authors a safe, reliable, local option for having their books published.

What is print on demand?

Using your finished manuscript, we create a high-quality trade paperback book.    Unlike traditional offset printing, there is no minimum print run, and no need to buy thousands of copies in advance. 

Customers and bookstores can order your book from a variety of distributors and online sources. Books are printed as they are ordered and delivered in a few business days. An e-book edition will be available for sale as well.

We welcome your inquiries at info@riverrunbookstore.com. Simply send us the first ten pages of your work as a Word document, and we will follow up with you within a week. If we accept your manuscript, it must be professionally proofread (although your sample manuscript need not be).   We can recommend freelance proofreaders to you if necessary.

Piscataqua Press Publishing Package: $1,500

Includes:

* One-on-one customer service, including introductory meeting, proof copy, quarterly sales reports, and follow-up interaction.

* ISBN number, barcode, LCCN, and U.S. copyright registration.

* Online distribution through Amazon, BN.com, etc.

* Distribution to bookstores through Ingram and Baker & Taylor.

* Formatting of e-book for Kindle, Nook, and Google Books.

* Custom color cover and interior design. Unlimited black-and-white photos within.

* Publicized author event at RiverRun Bookstore.

* 10 free copies of the book, additional copies at 45% off the cover price.

*Quarterly paid royalties on print copies sold.

Print copy royalty is 65% of the wholesale price of the book less publishing/printing costs. For example: On a $15, 300-page novel, this would be roughly $2.15 (at a 20% wholesale discount). For example: On a 75-page, $12 poetry book, this would be roughly $3.95 per book.

*Quarterly paid royalties on e-book sales.

E-book royalty is 20% of the retail price. For example: A $6.99 e-book would be roughly $1.40.
