Story Time by Story Time

After an exciting and busy holiday season, RiverRun bookstore will be starting up its events and programs for children again starting with, of course, our weekend story time.  This is an exciting story time for us because, for the most part, it will be hosted by the actual authors or illustrators near and far who have published books for children.  These events will be listed weekly at our website with information about the author and their work.  Before the holidays, we started up the kids story time and featured the popular David Elliott, whose book Knitty Kitty was featured in the Portsmouth Herald.  The turn out to the reading was wonderful and David answered many questions, entertained parents and children with his reading and stayed after to sign books and chat.  Sarah Thomson also ran a charming story time with her books Imagine A Place and Amazing Animals series along with first time self-published author Kirsten Merinda with her book dedicated to her mother and to the beauty of the seaons, Mother Nature's Dream.  These whimsical and fun readings are a great way to get kids out into the local community on the weekend with their parents, meet other parents and children, chat with us at the local shop and engage with creative, at times hilarious or inspirational authors and illustrators.

In addition to our weekend story time, RiverRun will also be joining in on the Kids Love Authors Day.  This is a program that independent bookstores across the country will be engaged in for Valentine's Day.  The store will be bustling with local and national authors and illustrators of children's books for activities, readings, snacks and signings.  Bring the kids out to meet a whole bunch of great authors and hear a bunch of great stories.  For more information about this program, see the Kids Love Authors Day website: http://www.kidsheartauthors.com/

Stay tuned for more kids events at RiverRun.  :)  Your friendly Kids Book Specialist, Donna Kirk.
