Walking To Gatlinburg by Howard Frank Mosher
Pre-order a Signed Copy

You would think in these dark winter months that I would have extra free time.  You'd be wrong though!  Sometimes I think the entire staff is in one of hamster wheels just running and running and running to stand still.  One of the ways we strive to be competitive is to offer interesting events with fantastic authors.  I'm proud to say that we are breaking new ground in that area every day.

We have been able to bring, through relentless hard work, authors to our little town that normally only appear in big cities.  Combined with all the great readers and writers that live right here in Portsmouth these events help make the Seacoast a virtual hotbed of literary excitement.  The Palahniuk event that we just announced is a real coup; his schedule includes only eight cities, and the other seven all have a population of over 1 million people.

Speaking of which, Jazzmouth is coming up next month, and we're very excited to be a part of that fantastic creative event.  Pinsky!  Manzarek!!  It's going to be great.

When I'm not mooning over baby pictures, I've been getting a little reading done, including the new Howard Frank Mosher.  We hosted a great event with him last Sunday.  Walking To Gatlinburg is great fun.  I'm not a big civil war buff, but this novel is not really about that.  It's an action-driven story about Morgan, a seventeen-year-old boy from northern Vermont whose older brother has gone missing at the battle of Gettysburg.  Morgan decides to head south to find out what became of him, and the adventure takes off from there.

Thanks for visiting our site, and we hope to keep it more up to date this spring.  Check out our staff picks and our events pages, and stop by when you're downtown.

Thanks,

Tom
