Liberty, at age 3, crushed by "Disney's Big Book of Villains."Today is the best day of my life. I have this lovely, snowy day off and I'm spending it curled up in a chair with my cat and a book, drinking hot chocolate. I have started reading "The Magus," the 1962 classic by John Fowles, and it really is incredible, simply wonderful. Not like some classics, which you read and then think, "That was dull. Why exactly is it a classic?" "The Magus" is so delicious, I may eat it.

Join us on Valentine's Day from 10:00 am to noon for our kids Valentine festival with live children's music, face painting, story readings by authors and illustrators, valentine's snacks both healthy and not, signed books and conversation. This is a new festival being held by indie bookstores all across New England as a way to support the love of reading in our youth and also to support the authors and illustrators who reach kids at a young age and stir in them a life long passion for books. Experiences like this are known to stick with children and set alight a journey of curiousity and engagement with the world. Plus, the authors are funny.

This is an exciting story time for us because, for the most part, it will be hosted by the actual authors or illustrators near and far who have published books for children. These events will be listed weekly at our website with information about the author and their work. Before the holidays, we started up the kids story time and featured the popular David Elliott, whose book Knitty Kitty was featured in the Portsmouth Herald. Sarah Thomson also ran a charming story time with her books Imagine A Place and Amazing Animals series along with first time self-published author Kirsten Merinda with her book dedicatread more
